Overview

The Putnam Lake Park District is a special improvement district established for the purpose of carrying on, performing or financing one or more improvements or services intended to benefit the health, welfare, safety or convenience of the inhabitants of such district. The Park District mission is to provide recreational facilities and programs to the residents of the 13 maps of the Putnam Lake subdivision.

Water Quality

Putnam Lake was designated as an “impaired waterbody” due to excessive nutrients (phosphorus), algae, and poor water clarity, which could impact recreational uses in the lake. Total phosphorus concentrations in Putnam Lake are 50 percent greater than the average concentration found throughout the Lower Hudson region.

NYS DEC has prepared an action plan to deal with Harmful Algal Bloom (HAB). The report can be found here.
